Immersive exhibition displays Japanese Ukiyo-e art

The Ukiyo-e Visions exhibition, an immersive art exhibition currently being staged at the World Expo Museum, provides visitors with a unique perspective on the convergence of physical and virtual worlds.
The term "ukiyo-e" translates to "pictures of the floating world". It is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through the 19th centuries in which artists produced woodblock prints and paintings depicting subjects such as scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, as well as flora and fauna.
Utilizing digital technology, the exhibition offers a 360-degree interactive experience featuring 450 original ukiyo-e works from over 20 museums and has attracted over 3 million visitors in cities including Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai. It is divided into two thematic sections: Ukiyo-e Visions and Mutation.
Ukiyo-e Visions offers a digital journey through landscapes and scenes, enhanced by visual and sound effects, while Mutation explores digital multimedia through artificial intelligence modeling.
The exhibition runs through Feb 12, 2025.
