Hip sports festival to kick off in Jing'an district

The inaugural 2024 Shanghai International Trendy Sports Festival is set to kick off this weekend in Jing'an district, running from Nov 2 to Dec 15.
The festival aims to bring a festive atmosphere to the public, particularly catering to sports fans with a diverse range of activities and events.
At a news conference organized by the information office of the Jing'an district government, it was announced that one of the main highlights will be the national finals of this year's China University 3X3 Basketball League.

Scheduled to take place from Nov 15 to 17 on the east lawn of Jing'an Park, the basketball tournament will follow the format of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour's Lite Quest final.
A total of 112 athletes, forming 28 teams from universities across China, including prestigious institutions like Tsinghua University, Peking University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will compete in 52 rounds of thrilling matches during the tournament.
To kick off the festival, a sports carnival will be held from Nov 2 to 3 at Anyi Road, providing an interactive experience for the public. The carnival will feature four sectors offering activities such as light and fun exercises, core strength training and guided sweating experiences led by fitness coaches.
Attendees will have the chance to participate in over 10 types of hip sports including mini-golf, spike ball and CrossFit.
In addition to the sports activities, the Shanghai International Trendy Sports Festival will also put on an exhibition highlighting Shanghai's rich basketball culture. Scheduled to debut on Nov 9 and run to Nov 17 at the CITIC Pacific Plaza, the exhibition will include an activity where residents can share old photos, memories and personal stories related to basketball.
During the first half of December, over 30 brands associated with hip sports and lifestyles within the West Nanjing Road business circle will host promotional events both online and offline.
To encourage participation, discount purchase vouchers will be distributed on popular payment platforms such as Alipay and WeChat Pay, providing attendees with added incentives to engage with the festival and its offerings.
